Yumisteel has been in Insulated metal panels(IMP) area for almost 30 years. There are already many panels’ manufacturers have posted many installation introduction, hereby we sorted some installation solutions that our clients are frequently asked . Hopefully these details can be useful for you.

☆ How do I choose the right fastener for sandwich panels?

Right fastener for sandwich panels

Everybody in insulated panels area should know that self-tapping Tek-style fasteners are using to fasten both roof and wall insulation panels, and pop rivets are applied to install the flashing and trims. But how to select the correct material of the fasteners?

Yumisteel team has the following suggestions for you:

· You need to consider the published load values, and in order to achieve it, we can have our engineer to verify by the structural calculations. And please make sure that it will have leakage, if you use the overdrive or underdrive the fasteners.

· Normally we suggested the fastener driving speeds of carbon, zinc plated and 410 stainless steel fasteners to be 1,800 rpm ,and 1,000 rpm for 304 stainless steel fasteners.

· Considering anti-rust properties and long service life, we advise to use 410 SS self-drilled screws to install the insulated thermal panels and aluminum alloy metal rivets to attach the trims and flashing.

☆ How many pieces of fasteners to be applied on insulated panels?

This question needs to be considered from multiple perspectives, such as panel type(Roof or wall), installation areas, etc. Hereby we listed some tips as follows, please review them.

·Recommendations for setting the screws in the different panels:

· For the wall panel placed at the highest position, please consider fixing it with twice as many fasteners as the wall panels at other positions.

☆ When the panel length is longer than the limited length, how to do?

There is a problem that is often showing up, the actual required length of the roof panel exceeds the maximum length that a shipping container can hold. Or because of local delivery length requirement, the clients need us to shorten the length for them.

Here we have 2 solutions to solve this situation. See as below, please.

· The first solution is separate the long panel to be 2 panels, the upper panel and the bottom panel. And the upper panel to be with 30-50mm undercutting, and cover on the bottom panel. The connection details, please refer to the figure below. About the undercutting on the roof metal panels, Yumisteel can make it in our workshop for clients.

· The second solution is to use 2 different size of purlins, the purlin for the upper panel should be at least 200mm higher than the purlin to support the bottom panel. To offer an example, C150 to support the bottom panel, then it will be C350 to support the upper panels.

Comparing the 2 solutions, customers can select according to their needs, but from the perspective of cost, the first solution will be the most economical.
