Glasswool Sandwich Panels VS Rockwool Sandwich Panels

Glasswool Sandwich Panels VS Rockwool Sandwich Panels

2025-07-09

As we all konw ,glasswool and rockwool sandwich panels are both used for insulation and structural purposes, but they differ in their composition and properties. Glasswool panels are lighter and generally less expensive, making them suitable for general building insulation below 200°C. Rockwool panels, on the other hand, offer superior fire resistance and thermal insulation at higher temperatures (up to 500°C or higher), making them ideal for industrial and high-temperature applications.

Product name

Glasswool Sandwich Panels

Rockwool Sandwich Panels

Core Material

Made from glass fibers, often bonded with resin.

Made from rock fibers (also known as stone wool), created by melting rock and spinning it into fibers.

Thermal Insulation

Good, but generally not as effective as rockwool for higher temperatures. effective as rockwool for higher temperatures.

Excellent thermal insulation properties, particularly at higher temperatures.

Fire Resistance

Offers good fire resistance but may not be as high as rockwool.

Highly fire-resistant, often rated as A-level fireproof.

Cost

Typically less expensive than rockwool panels.

Generally more expensive than glasswool panels.

Weight

Lighter than rockwool panels.

Heavier than glasswool panels.

Applications

Suitable for general building insulation, low-temperature pipelines, and situations where weight is a concern.

Ideal for industrial settings, high-temperature pipelines, and applications where fire safety is a primary concern.

Comparing Joint methodWhen choosing between Glasswool and Rockwool sandwich panels, consider key factors like thermal performance, fire resistance, and cost. Glasswool panels are lightweight, cost-effective, and ideal for standard insulation. Rockwool panels, however, offer superior fire resistance, soundproofing, and moisture durability, making them better for high-temperature or humid environments. For budget-friendly projects, Glasswool is sufficient, while Rockwool excels in safety-critical applications. The right choice depends on your project’s insulation needs, environmental conditions, and budget.
